Angry and ashamed

5 days after the Mumbai blasts, 5 days on non-stop glib on News channels.  We are angry and ashamed......

I am  not as angry and ashamed by attacks by Islamist extremist on Indians which gets so much coverage on TV, but I am angry and ashamed by the fact we do not gives as much thoughts or show so much anger when Hindus kill and rape Christians and nuns in Orissa, or when we pardon the people in the Gujrat riots and blasts;

I am not as angry and ashamed by attacks on the elite class in a TAJ or Trident as suddenly this raises the voice of the nation to never known decibels but I am angry and ashamed, when we forget and give excuses that we are "resilient" when an aam admi dies in terror attacks.

I am not angry and ashamed with the resignations of the Patils (shivraj and RR), but I am more angry and ashamed with the fact that these resignations were forced by an ITALIAN born INDIAN.

I am not angry and ashamed that our politicians give useless comments on news channels and politicise the terror attacks but i am more angry and ashamed that the ITALIAN born INDIAN defacto prime minister knows that public angst is against the politicians and does not give any comments

I am not angry and ashamed to see people dying on TV channels (showing the entire terror attacks non-stop) but i am more angry and ashamed that TV channels couldn't let Sandeeps mother mourn and hug her son in private and peace...... 3 days of terror and no TV ads on the news channels - was it all a game to earn TRP rankings so that you can discuss in office which news channel had the best coverage and today we are back to ads running every two minutes.

I am not angry and ashamed by our knee jerk reactions for the fact that the blame lies on Pakistan - we immediately blame this country, but i am angry and ashamed that there are no knee jerk reactions when people die within the states or die and are beaten to death when we go to work in different states...

I am not angry and ashamed that terrorists planned to kill 5000 Indians, but I am angry and ashamed that the celebrities who died got more TV coverage, while no single channel covered the lives of the 14 constables who died.......... the elite diners at Taj & Oberoi died innocent - the constables knew they were in the line of fire and were stepping in with life sacrifices.

I am not angry and ashamed that i am a citizen of a country run by impotent politicians but I am angry and ashamed that i do not know whom to vote for , in the next 4 months.

Does this country only raise its voice when the elite or the upper classes are hurt or are vindicated, do the Suhel Seths of India only blast their vocal chords when human beings of his echelons are killed..... or when the TV channels like to show the shots of gore and blood in repeated slow motions to earn higher TRP ratings, I don't have the answers, I am angry and ashamed
